THE MINOR MIRROR
The Society’s newsletter, THE MINOR MIRROR, is published twice yearly in April and October. It carries articles concerning our early ancestors as well as news about our members, their families and upcoming reunions. In it members will be kept informed of Society activities and related areas of interest to the descendants of Thomas.
Submissions:
A Microsoft Word document is best. If you work in another program, send it as a PDF. Whatever you do, don’t scan the page. Members are encouraged to send pictures and articles to the coeditor for consideration: Coeditor@TMSociety.org
Length: There’s no specific target length. Anywhere from 600 to 1200 words is adequate (Microsoft Word has a great word count feature – TOOLS, Word count). But that is only a general rule of thumb. You must take the length it takes to tell your story.
Pictures:
If you are uncertain about the below specifications, ask your kids, or grandkids.
Format — jpeg format, PNGs, PDFs are OK.
DPI — 300 DPI is ideal but do what you can.
Size – under 15 MB is a good gauge for emailing.
PHOTOS – If you are taking a picture of a picture, no problem. Just make sure it’s well lit up and maybe without a flash. Cell phones take great photos, but it can take a few attempts. Be patient. Get help from someone adept at taking these photos. Consider using a smartphone app like Adobe Scan or Camscanner to help get a higher quality image.
Submission deadlines:
SPRING: February 1st
FALL: August 1st
Issues Mailed by April 2nd and October 1st
